Welcome to the mountains! June 29, 2006

We are headed to the mountains this weekend to put final touches on our permanent move to our Highlands home. It is difficult to leave so many friends in Montgomery, but we have a feeling that the saying “You never know how many friends you have until you own a cabin” will prove to be true and we can expect many visits in the future. (We actually received a pillow with this saying on it as a gift when we first moved in and so far, it is definitely working!) My ASB “Running Away” Party last night was such a fun occasion – much laughing and remembering of good times! I can’t believe that Marcia, Amy and Margaret went through 12 years of old photos to put together that slide show – and I didn’t have a clue about what they were doing! Guess with these powers of observation, I should run away!Needless to say, there are so many ASB friends that I will miss greatly.

We will be back and forth during the next few weeks as we close the sale on the Montgomery house and prepare for a moving sale the weekend of July 21-22. Then our Japanese daughter, Yoshiko, and her family come for a 3-week visit. We haven’t seen her in six years and haven’t even met our twin Japanese granddaughters who are five years old this month. Yoshiko lived with us during her senior year of high school and is really a part of our family. Her older daughter is just ten days younger than our Madison and they met when both were 2 years old when all of the family got together in Maui. Yoshiko will also get to meet her new “sister” , our new daughter-in-law, for the first time!

Busy times … wonderful memories in the making!
